PARTIES ARE MEANT TO BE FUN!

If you have young children you can never underestimate the importance of a birthday party, the excitement, the games, the friends and of course the food.

Having a child with a Nut Allergy around tempting food that is not ‘Nut Free’, can be a dangerous combination. Sure, most kids with allergies know not to eat any food, but imagine how they feel? When they know that they can’t participate in eating all that delicious food with their friends.

In most cases all it would take is substituting brands to “safe” brands. Parents of children with allergies often find it difficult to read labels and understand ingredients. Imagine what it would be like for a parent whose child doesn’t have allergies to try to cater for a nut allergic person?

We have designed our party packs for this very reason. Great tasting Cakes, table food and party bags all delivered to your door. No Nuts has done the shopping for you, and you can still plan and prepare the party as you normally would, just using ‘safe’ ingredients. Warning: Do not be surprised that the food actually tastes great!

What we do

We simply try to make eating and living with a Nut Allergy easier by:

·                 Supplying pre packaged food for parties and special events manufactured without Nuts

·                 Supplying families and schools with pre packaged snacks manufactured without Nuts

·                 Allergy Products such as Educational story books, Recipe Books and Nut Free Zone Posters, ‘Don’t Feed Me’ Temporary Tattoos & Fridge Magnets with nut ingredients listed on them.

·                 Supply schools with very profitable Fundraising Chocolates manufactured without Nuts.

We strongly believe and encourage any nut allergic person to eliminate the exposure of trace amounts of nuts in the diet. Ongoing exposure to trace amounts of nuts boosts the immune response and the IgE antibody level rises, which means that it takes less and less exposure to cause a reaction. Parties and special events are often when reactions occur because trace amounts of nuts in the chips, dips, lollies, cakes, biscuits and sauces etc build up, and combined with the extra body heat caused by running around create a reaction. We have a strong focus on supplying party food and party bags for this reason.

For many people, searching numerous supermarkets and specialty stores for food can be a time consuming and rather daunting task.  In many cases where a reaction has occurred, food has been consumed where the packaging was not labelled correctly or the label was not read correctly in haste.  No Nuts tries to eliminate this risk, by supplying a range of long life prepacked food and snacks so that you will always have something on hand.

Hint:  We suggest providing a supply of snacks to carers and grandparents so that the choice of snacks is simplified and risk is reduced.

What we won’t do

No Nuts cannot give you advice or recommend any specific food to you.  We are however, more than happy to suggest products that may be suited to you.  The ingredients of most of our products are listed on our website to enable you to make decisions based on your allergies and or intolerances. No Nuts insist that you read ingredient labels on all food packaging again prior to giving to an allergic person.

Nut Free

The term Nut Free often evokes a false sense of security in allergic people. And no one can ‘guarantee’ that food is nut free. Raw materials are delivered to manufacturers untested for traces of nuts.

No Nuts use the term “Nut Free” to refer to food either:

·                 manufactured without nuts as an ingredient,

·                 manufactured by businesses that manufacture their food in a nut free environment,

·                 don’t manufacture nuts on the premises or

·                 don’t manufacture nuts on the same lines as the products we stock.

Many of the items we stock have been tested and certified not to contain traces of nuts. No Nuts insist that food labels are read thoroughly before giving to an allergic person.

No Nuts do not manufacture any food ourselves and we cannot guarantee that there are no traces of nuts in the products we sell.  We rely on the manufacturers labelling and advice and of course our own enquiries.

We believe that all of the products we sell are made with care, with the least chance of nut cross contamination available on the market.

No Nuts Food Selection Process

No Nuts call the Distributors, Manufacturers or company owners directly to ask about their food manufacturing processes.

If we are satisfied that the product is indeed manufactured without nuts as an ingredient and without the direct possibility of cross contamination, we then further investigate the ingredients and the product competitors to see if there are any healthier alternatives available.

We have tried to choose products that are not unreasonably expensive, do not have a lot of “numbers” listed in the ingredients and are not genetically modified. There are some exceptions to this, because there may be only one option available. We prefer Australian Made food.

There have been many instances where “May contain traces of Nuts” statement has been left off packaging.  I have heard many reasons for this from the companies including “it didn’t fit on the packet”, “the design people didn’t think it looked good” and “oh, the printers must have left it off”. We urge you not to be complacent if there are no warning statements on packaging.  Warning Statements are not compulsory, and if you intend to purchase products from the supermarket shelves, we encourage you to make your own enquiries.

No Nuts recommend that a suitably trained medical professional properly diagnose all allergies.  All new foods should be introduced in a controlled environment.

No Nuts accept Credit Card payments through PayPal on our website.  We also accept Bank Transfer and Cheque.  Cash will be accepted for Pick up only by prior arrangement. We are an online store only.

Delivery is available usually within 2 working days in the Metro areas of Australia through FastWay Couriers.  You can track the progress of your order through the FastWay Courier website: www.fastway.com.au. Small items such as Tattoos and Magnets are posted through Australia Post to minimise delivery costs.

No Nuts is committed to making living with a nut allergy easier.

Careful consideration was needed with every piece of food that we as a family ate.  Going out of the house required a range of pre packaged snacks that would suit the whole family and avoid the need for trying to find snacks in unfamiliar territory.  Birthday parties and special events became scary, because who knows if a reaction would occur if touched with nuts?  We were told by our Doctor to avoid all nuts and anything that contained traces of nuts.  So the journey began... 

Our family (and even some of our friends), began to rethink their shopping trolleys.  We found that it was often hard to find NUT FREE foods, let alone NUT FREE healthy foods.  We found ourselves having to travel between supermarkets, health food stores and various independent outlets to complete our groceries.  It began to become time consuming and inconvenient trying to source food for our family.  Online shopping was often hard because we needed to know the ingredients before we bought products into our home.  We decided that in the year 2007, this was just unacceptable!  What was the solution?
